Interviews
We’ve spoken to some of the best up-and-coming bands around over the last couple of years. And if you sit tight a few days, all those interviews will be right here.

Check Out…Screaming Tea Party
Hello there. What have you guys done today?
We had the band rehearsal, and went to a friend’s gig in Old Street.
Come on then, where does the name come from?
It was the title of my song. It was about Agatha Christie because she had a secret tea party under the table when she was a child. But I don’t remember the song anymore.
Which is better - screaming or drinking tea?
I think both.
The Beatles or the Stones?
I don’t know. Me and Nell like the Beatles. Niyan prefers the Stones.
What would you be doing if you weren’t doing this ?
I guess manager of a biggish aquarium. Or lighthouse-keeper.
Describe your music in exactly 13 words.
wishiwasafish
That’s 13 letters. What’s your favourite gig ever?
To watch? Nisennenmondai. They played in London a few months ago. Sound like a bunch of aliens playing. It was so eternal. I was choked up.
You’re on one of our favourite indie labels (Stolen). How did you get involved with them ?
I went to their first art exhibition years ago. A friend invited me and Niyan, and we liked it, I remember even beer was a quid. And I had my demo in my pocket accidentally, so I gave it to them.
The Times (we read big papers at the COG office) ran an article this week, claiming over half a persons songs on their MP3 player were obtained illegally. Where you do you stand on the whole ‘illegal downloading is ruining the industry’ debate?
I’m not sure, but nobody can stop this I think. I wouldn’t even try to stop it. People hardly buy music anymore. And I kind of like it. This world can be like the museums in England. We pay nothing to see those trippy paintings of Munch and Van Gogh. The industry was being ruined anyway. Now those big record companies are losing power and freaking out, which is good I think. The whole music industry is changing.
How big can Screaming Tea Party be?
All children on the earth will be singing our songs under the kitchen table.
